Keerthi Warnakulasuirya joins The Sunday Leader from Divaina
The defence correspondent at the Divaina newspaper, Keerthi Warnakulasuirya has suddenly resigned from the Divaina and joined The Sunday Leader. Divaina Editor Narada Nissanka and Editor of The Sunday Leader Shakuntala Perera are unaware of Keerthi’s resignation and decision to join The Sunday Leader.
Keerthi has made this move without the knowledge of the two editors in Geneva.
Keerthi had attended the UN Human Rights Council sessions in Geneva and had been closely associated with the members of the government. He had also made it a point not to sit with the rest of the media when covering the sessions. He had always bee around the government representatives. He had also taken a photograph of key Sri Lankan civil society activists Nimalka Fernando and V. Kirubaharan seated at the main table. Since government representatives cannot carry cameras into the halls where meetings are held without prior permission, Kirubaharan had inquired about he person who had taken his photograph.
Responding to Kirubaharn’s question, Keerthi had said that he was “Jayantha” from The Sunday Leader. When inquired why a representative from a newspaper like The Sunday Leader was with the government representatives and not seated with the rest of the media, Keerthi had slowly slipped away.
A male should always be the chairperson- Tissa Karaliyadda

Women are incapable of performing duties of the head chair, says the Minister of Child Development and Women’s Affairs, Mr. Tissa Karaliyadda.
‘“Even though we have paid special attention to the protection of women’s rights, when a woman is given authority in a department or a ministry they tend to suppress other women are under their administration out of jealousy. This situation will lead to inefficiency in that particular organization. Hence always the main chair should be given to a male and the assistant should be a female’ the Minister said.
Minister Tissa Karaliyadda made these comments at a meeting yesterday (11).
‘When certain people are given authority in an organization where the work is been performed perfectly they try to force employees to work in a different pattern. This causes conflicts and complications in the particular organization. They do not take responsibility for their mistakes instead they put the blame on someone else. They do not take the feedbacks of the employees into consideration. “
‘It can not be argued that the ministry of Child and Women’s development must exclusively consist of female workers. There are two factions of workers .One faction is the workers who are dedicated, other being the ones who neglect their duties. If questioned they use human rights as an excuse’.
